Joy Lopez teaches 6th, 7th and 8th grade Science, Pre-algebra and 6th grade Bible. She is a graduate of Vanguard University. She holds a California Professional Clear Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential. She and her husband were childrens’ pastors in Orange County before moving back to San Diego in 2006. Joy holds a special part in the history of TCS as she was in the first Kindergarten class at TCS. She is also the first student to graduate (1987) and then return to teach at the school. Several of her teachers are still at Trinity. Her former teachers have now become her mentors and colleagues! Mrs. Lopez has two children. One attends Foothills Christian High and the other will be attending California Baptist University this year. She enjoys the “aha” moments with her students when they are trying to learn something new.

Julie Fontenot is our middle school history and 8th grade homeroom teacher. She has a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from State University College of New York at Brockport and started her career as a Youth Development Counselor in a residential treatment center for delinquent adolescence. After moving to California in 1982, she attended National University, received a Clear California Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential and has been teaching for over 20 years in a variety of grade levels from primary through middle school. She most enjoys interacting with students and seeing the uninterested students transform to the interested and even become enthusiastic about learning. Mrs. Fontenot is married and has 8 children (Yours, Mine and Ours, 7 grown and 1 at home). They have two daughters who graduated from Trinity. She and her husband attend Foothills Christian Church.

Mrs. Henderson teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English and is the 7th grade homeroom teacher. She grew up as a missionary kid in Croatia, self-published the book Even Tears Are Good with Bread, received her degree in English Education at Indiana Wesleyan University, and taught for three years at Liberty Charter High School before coming to teach at Trinity. She is passionate about equipping students to develop their voice in speaking and writing as well as develop their ability to listen actively.
